Robots are great but actually, playing with then is even better! As we're still such children – an essential characteristic when you love play-robotics – we have spent nights "working" on developing games about robots. We've broken and destroyed many, worked together a lot, betrayed our allies and often lost but really, we had a great time. Robots are great when they can be broken too! |

The game's world is set inside a sphere none other than planet ITACANTE. You have to defeat Vulcor, the memory thief, who's trying to submit the planet to his will. In order to beat him, you have to take up and win a series of challenges that'll take you to the 9 temples of planet ITACANTE. If you decide to take up a challenge, you'll have to build a robot whose pertaining characteristics will lead you to victory. You'll have to choose between a shrewd, subtle or strong-arm solution. This adventure is a mix of strategy, action and logic and is based on an original system to build robots. It gives to your children the opportunity to find many answers for a single question and its non-linear structure offers a great freedom. From 9 years old onwards, PC/MAC compatible, around $35.

A very funny game of robots races on Super Nintendo. The character is a small robot and you have to successfully move up the more and more difficult levels to go rescue your lovely lady. There's even a circuit editor to test your speeding skills. Sensitive hearts, please restrain because it moves a lot. It's beautiful and cute, in short, it's great!

Here comes a new mission for Spy Corps secret agent. Napoléon Boncloporte made up a robot to conquer the planet and hid the robot's off-switch on the World fair site. Spy Corps mission: foil the major's plans to conquer the earth with his robots! Operation Robot Expo is a very-well conceived adventure game full of humor. A game for the kids, to stimulate their secret agent skills through memory and logics training. James Bond had better hold on to his job!!

Artificial Intelligence, the next Spielberg movie, is actually an old Kubrick's movie project. The story: 2050, human beings will only be allowed to have a single child... unless they adopt a robot-child! In complete secret, Dreamworks company launched a huge number of websites inspired from the movie's universe: something like thirty - or more - websites that take the websurfer 50 years forward in the future. But unfortunately, these websites have been opened without advertisement and only the websurfer's curiosity led to discover their existence! From a website to another, you're going deeper into this world: anti-droids propaganda, intelligent homes builder, human beings/robots equal rights fight, an FBI department specialized in catching rebel androids, a pro-robots sect... Each website - or at least those which have been discovered - are listed on the "Ain't it Cool" website that led the investigation.

A website dedicated to Aibo, the domestic robot, where information and programs to play with Aibo are available. Once you get used to the website's weird graphics and most of all after patiently waiting for the images' hundreds Ko to download, you realize that this website has little or no interest. The only worthy info is the links' list! But even here it's confusing.

A WebRing dedicated to Sony's domestic robot, Aibo; i.e. every happy owner of the robot show you pictures of Aibo with their dog, cats, kids and so on and so forth... you'll know all the tricks to play with this high-tech doggy. The site is crammed with links (more than 15) on personal websites even though the layout leaves much to be desired. Go take a look if there's nothing on TV or if you're short of good books. But watch your phone bill!

A soccer game simulation with two robots. Each robot's tactics can be changed to suit your wishes. It's fun and it doesn't cost much. Too bad you can't enjoy the software's opportunities to program your own moves and test them. On the other hand, the website is full of relevant characteristics about the program.

Creatures is a game software for kids and adults alike. The idea is rather simple but their tecnology is at the top - neurons network. In a virtual world called Albia, you have to watch upon the life and evolution of small creatures called Norms. Their life expectancy is no more than 10 hours and your mission is to have the population growing and to explore the planet as far as you can. You can educate your Norms by tickling their nose or gently slapping them. Then everything's linked and at your command. The Norms can be joyful, sorrowful or fearful and can talk to each other through the Internet. You also have to regulate the population's evolution when Norms breed. The artifical intelligence is really amazing and the game's yet easy to play. In short, a very good educational and play game that we strongly recommand for you. Being God is so great sometimes... The game can be bought on Amazon.com for 19$US in its English version or else in its French version, in stores for a mere 280F, LOL!!!
